This former Canadiens prospect is having success in the SHL.
During the off-season, former Montreal Canadiens prospect Jan Mysak signed a two-year contract with HV71 of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). This was after he had 10 goals and 23 points in 56 AHL games for the San Diego Gulls during the 2025-26 season.
So far, the move to the SHL is benefiting Mysak nicely. This is because he is having a very good start to the season with HV71.
In seven games so far with HV71, Mysak has a SHL-leading seven goals. He also has five goals over his last five games, so he is showing zero signs of slowing down from his great start to the campaign.
If Mysak can continue to play like this, he will end up being a very important part of HV71's roster this season. Right now, the SHL club must be very happy with its decision to sign him.
Mysak was selected by the Canadiens in the second round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, 48th overall. He never appeared in an NHL regular season game during his time in North America. Instead, he spent five seasons in the AHL, where he posted 49 goals and 97 points in 248 games.
