Don't be surprised if this former KHL forward has a big season for the Blackhawks.
Back in May, Roman Kantserov signed a three-year, entry-leve; contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. With this move, Kantserov officially moved on from the KHL to begin his NHL career.
Kantserov has had a quiet start to his NHL career, as he was held without a point in each of his first three games with the Blackhawks. While this is the case, there is no question that he has the potential to break out in a big way this season for Chicago.
Kantserov demonstrated during his time in the KHL that he has the potential to make a serious impact offensively. In 63 games last season for Metallurg Magnitogorsk, he posted 36 goals and 64 points. This was after he had 13 goals and 38 points in 47 games with the KHL club during the 2024-25 season.
With numbers like these, it is hard not to feel optimistic about Kantserov's future in the NHL. If he breaks out the ice and cements himself as a true top-six winger this season, it would be huge for a Blackhawks club that is looking to take that next step.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how the former KHL star performs this season for Chicago from here.
