Amid a dominant postseason run and Calder Cup Finals lead, veteran sniper Vinni Lettieri may trade his NHL aspirations for a starring role in Russia next season.
According to a report from Hockey News Hub, Toronto Marlies forward Vinni Lettieri is drawing interest from KHL clubs.
Lettieri, 31, has been having a great season with the Marlies and is currently playing in the Calder Cup Finals. Where he and his club lead 1-0 over the Chicago Wolves.
In the regular season, he had 14 goals and 28 assists for 42 points in 55 games. Meanwhile, in the playoffs so far, he has 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points.
Over his career, he has played in 155 NHL games and has scored 15 goals and 17 assists for 32 points. He has suited up for the New York Rangers, Anaheim Ducks, Boston Bruins, and Minnesota Wild.
In his AHL career, he has played in 379 games and scored 155 goals and 174 assists for 329 points. Just 50 points short of a point per game, which is very impressive.
It isn't hard to figure out why he'd gain interest from teams around the world. It is unfortunate for him that he hasn't been given another chance at the NHL level. However, he could open that door back up with a good season or two in the KHL.
