The IIHF and the local organizing committee for the 2025 IIHF U-18 World Championship have announced the game schedule for the tournament, which runs from April 23 to May 3 in Frisco and Allen, Tex.
The group stage will run from April 23 to 28 with the following teams at the respective venues:
Group A (Credit Union of Texas Event Center, Allen): Canada, Slovakia, Finland, Latvia, Norway.
Group B (Comerica Center, Frisco): USA, Sweden, Czechia, Switzerland, Germany.
The opening day of the tournament will see Slovakia vs Finland and Norway vs Latvia in Allen, while Sweden vs Switzerland and Czechia vs host USA happen in Frisco. Defending champion Canada plays its first game the next day against Slovakia.
Each venue will then host two quarterfinal games on April 30. Allen will also host the relegation game between the two fifth-place teams on that day. The semifinals and medal games will be held in Frisco on May 2 and 3.
Frisco previously co-hosted the U-18 Worlds along with Plano, Tex. in 2021, with players and tournament officials in a bubble and limited attendance due to the Covid pandemic. The USA has also previously hosted in 2009 and 2016.
At its semi-annual congress in September, the IIHF announced that the USA would also host the U-18 Worlds in 2027 and 2029. That announcement was “part of a potential upcoming deal between the IIHF, USA Hockey and the NHL.”
The 2026 IIHF U-18 World Championship has already been assigned to Slovakia, with host cities not yet announced.
