"Captain Canada" heads to Switzerland seeking redemption after Olympic heartbreak, reuniting with Macklin Celebrini to bolster the roster and chase gold at the 2026 World Championships.

Team Canada is getting a huge boost to their lineup for the 2026 IIHF World Hockey Championships. It has been reported that Sidney Crosby is set to join the roster ahead of their May 15th game.

This news comes on the heels of the Pittsburgh Penguins' end-of-season media availability. And now he is heading overseas to join the rest of the team in Switzerland.

Crosby, 38, suited up for Team Canada at last year's World Hockey Championships. Which is where he built a strong relationship with Macklin Celebrini, who serves as the team's captain.

Some hockey analysts are wondering if Celebrini will give up his captaincy for Crosby, who is nicknamed Captain Canada. However, at this point, there is no word that it will happen.

In 53 games with Canada as part of their senior men's program. He has scored 27 goals and 43 assists for 70 points.

This seems like a bit of a revenge tour for Crosby, who was hurt at the 2026 Winter Olympics. And, unfortunately, missed out on a chance to help his team win the Gold medal. Instead, he had to watch his team capture the silver medal.
