Defenseman Leo Lööf returns to Ilves on a two-year deal, ending his North American stint after three AHL seasons without cracking the Blues' NHL roster.

The St. Louis Blues will see defensive prospect Leo Lööf head back to Europe this summer after he signed a two-year deal with Ilves in Finland’s Liiga.

It brings his time in the organization to an end. Lööf leaves North America without ever playing an NHL game.

Drafted 88th overall in 2020, he spent the last three seasons with the Springfield Thunderbirds in the AHL. He finished with two goals and 30 points in 168 games.

This past season, he played 47 games but didn’t dress in the playoffs. Once his entry-level deal expired, he was heading toward restricted free agency on July 1 before choosing to go overseas instead.

Before coming to North America, Lööf actually spent two seasons with Ilves and had some real success there, putting up 26 points in 103 games. That’s where he’s heading back to now.
