Martin Rulsch - Switzerland names Hlinka Gretzky Cup team

Switzerland became the last European team to name its Hlinka Gretzky Cup squad on Tuesday.

Of the 24 players named, all play in Switzerland except for two forwards – Jan Kneubühler and Daniele Wagner – who play in Sweden and two forwards – Florian Schenk and Lars Steiner – who play in the QMJHL. All players were born in 2007 and there are no returnees from last year’s Hlinka Gretzky Cup or IIHF U18 World Championship.

“The Hlinka Gretzky Cup is the most prestigious invitational tournament in the world and we are extremely excited to compete against the best U18 teams in the world,” said head coach Fabio Schumacher. “This will help our young players enormously in their development and provide us coaches with valuable initial insights as we look ahead to the U18 World Championship.”
