“He’s sick,” Swedish coach Sam Hallam said on Tuesday, according to HockeyNews.se. “So we’re keeping him away from the rest of the gang here during the day. He won’t be at the game tonight and so he’ll have to recover here over the next 24 hours.”

At the same time, William Karlsson, who arrived in Stockholm on Sunday after his Vegas Golden Knights were eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs, will play in his first game of the tournament.

“It’s nice to have this kind of depth,” said Hallam, who acknowledged that he is shuffling the lines. He said that Leo Carlsson will center Isac Lundeström and Alexander Wennberg, while Karlsson will play with Lucas Raymond and Marcus Johansson, but that could change during the game.

“We know that we have a hell of a lot of depth up front, and any of our lines can step in and win games for us,” said Hallam.

The game between Sweden and Canada – the last in Group A – will determine the top three spots in the group. Sweden will finish first with at least a point but will drop to second with a regulation loss, Canada can finish first with a regulation win, will finish second if the game goes to overtime and will fall to third with a regulation loss, while Finland will finish second if Sweden wins in regulation and third otherwise.

“They will be hungry for revenge after the loss to Finland,” said Swedish captain Rasmus Andersson. “We and they knew all along that it would be the last game that would decide the group in some way. It’s fun. Hopefully, we can come out flying from the start.”
