The Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers will face off in the Stanley Cup finals meaning a former Vegas Golden Knights player will be a cup champion.

Nick Cousins played just 24 games regular season and playoffs combined with the Golden Knights but is a former Golden Knight nonetheless. Playing with the Panthers for the second consecutive season, Cousins has registered just one assist in 11 playoff games. En route to the finals, the Panthers have defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning, Boston Bruins and the New York Rangers.

The Golden Knights acquired Cousins in the 2019-20 season from the Montreal Canadiens. The former third-round pick was on pace to set new career highs in goals and points before the season was cut short due to COVID.

Mattias Janmark is thoroughly enjoying his second season with the Oilers after they've defeated the Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks and the Dallas Stars to get to the finals. Janmark has played in 18 playoff games scoring two goals and four points, including a goal against the Stars in the Western Conference finals.

Former Golden Knights HC, Pete DeBoer once again came up short in his quest for the Stanley Cup losing in the Conference finals for the fifth straight season.

The Golden Knights acquired Janmark in the 2020-21 season from the Chicago Blackhawks. He was an effective player in the playoffs scoring four goals and eight points in 16 games.

Both Cousins and Janmark will have the opportunity to win their first Stanley Cups. Cousins reached this stage last year but came up short losing to the Golden Knights. Two bottom six forwards looking to find ways to contribute to their teams' success in any way possible. Janmark has done so by being a critical part of the Oilers' penalty kill that has killed off 28 consecutive power plays, six off the all-time record.
