McKamey was the first player ever granted exceptional status by the BCHL

Penticton Vees' forward Eli McKamey has committed to North Dakota, it was announced Monday.

A product of Cowichan Bay, B.C., McKamey was the first player ever granted exceptional status into the BCHL. Still only 15 years old, McKamey has scored three goals and added three assists for six points in 12 games this season.

Prior to making the jump into the BCHL, McKamey played for Shawinigan Lake School U18 Prep last year where he collected 23 goals and 48 points in 28 regular season games.

Although he won't be stepping foot on campus until 2028, McKamey is a huge add for the Fighting Hawks. A team that has consistently been able to churn out NHL talent, North Dakota is getting another player who looks to be one of the top players available for the 2027 NHL Draft.
