Two of the college's best teams go head-to-head this weekend. Who's the favorite, and who should you watch?
Two of college hockey’s best are at it this weekend with the 13th-ranked Boston University Terriers versus the third-ranked Michigan State Spartans.
Two programs that have been some of the best in the entire sport, and it’s a very big matchup for both of them.
Boston University is looking to be in the national championship conversation while Michigan State wants to remain in it.
Both of these teams have multiple future NHL stars and it will be a star studded affair all weekend. Boston University is coming off a weekend sweep against Maine where their depth scoring came out, and their freshmen started to look the part.
A player to look out for with the Terriers is freshman and 2026 third overall pick Caleb Malhotra who has shown a lot of the offensive talent he had in the OHL. Michigan State has a lot of size and will be trying to get in his grill all weekend. If he’s able to break out and dominate this weekend, it’ll be very hard for the Spartans defense to keep up with him.
For Michigan State, a big weekend from freshman Chase Reid who has seven points in six games and will be looked upon in all facets of the game. When Michigan State is on the power play, they’ll need Reid to control traffic and drive the offense. An added player for them is goaltender Joshua Ravensburgen. BU brings a lot of skill to the table and if they get elite goaltending, their team can win this weekend off talent alone.
Two blue bloods going at it with both of them having the same end season goal, who will prevail and who will crumble under the big lights. Either way, this matchup is must-see hockey and it’ll be a great reference point for the committee towards the end of season rankings.
