ST. PAUL - The Jacob Fowler story continued after the Eagles 4-0 win over Michigan in the Frozen Four Semifinal game. Fowler stopped 32 in the win to push the Eagles to the National Championship.
"I don't think we made it hard enough on him tonight," Michigans's Rutger McGroarty said on Fowler's performance.
Fowler's shutout marked his 32 win which is the third most wins in a single season all time by a goaltender.
"It's nice having him back there," Will Smith said on Fowler. "There were a few too many odd man rushes tonight so having him back there definitely helps."
Boston College has been known for their top tier talent this year and it starts with the big four. Cutter Gauthier, Will Smith, Gabe Perreault, and Ryan Leonard. Tonight all four connected on the goals. Smith had two, Perreault had one, Gauthier had the other, and Leonard assisted on the first goal.
"Those guys are special," Michigan head coach Brandon Naurato said on Boston College's big four. "They won them the game"
For Boston College, they will meet Denver in the National Championship game.
BC played Denver earlier this season and lost 4-3. They had a 2-1 lead in the third period of that game but walked away with the loss. It was one of only two times this season the Eagles had blown a third period lead. They are 25-2-0 this season when leading after two periods.
Eagles head coach Greg Brown said his team has grown a lot since that game despite it only being a few games in the season.
"We've improved a lot but that was a very fun hockey game," Brown said. "It was back-and-forth with two good teams both making a lot of plays. The biggest mistake we made in that game was we took a few penalties, I think three in the last ten minutes of the game, so we've learned from that."
