The No. 7-ranked North Dakota Fighting Hawks will host No. 3-ranked Boston University for a two-game set at Ralph Engelsted Arena this weekend.
UND is coming off a two-game road split against Minnesota State. After falling behind 2-0 on Friday, North Dakota stormed back with three third-period goals to stun the Mavericks.
Cameron Berg and Louis Jamernik V tallied power-play goals 18 seconds apart to tie the game. Carter Wilkie provided the game-winner near the midway point of the frame.
"That was huge," head coach Brad Berry told reporters on Wednesday. "Having a situation where you're down going into the third period and finding a way to get back in the game and then win the game is a big, big deal early in the season."
However, there was no comeback for North Dakota on Saturday. Minnesota State scored one goal in every period and junior netminder Alex Tracy kept a clean sheet.
After missing Saturday's game, UND is expecting sophomore defenseman Caleb MacDonald to return this weekend.
Boston University topped UConn last Friday before defeating Harvard in an exhibition game the following night.
Freshman Cole Eiserman netted a pair of goals, and goaltender Mathieu Caron stopped 24-of-26 against UConn.
The following night, the Terriers erased a two-goal deficit with goals from Quinn Hutson and Jack Hughes to force some free hockey. In the shootout, sophomore forward Jack Harvey potted the decisive goal.
BU holds an 8-5-2 record all-time in previous matchups with North Dakota. The Fighting Hawks snapped a three-game losing streak in the series with a 5-4 overtime win in Boston last year.
No. 1 Denver vs. No. 20 Wisconsin
Denver will look to continue their recent dominance over Wisconsin. While the Pioneers are 64-76-13 all-time against the Badgers, they have taken the last four straight contests.
The Pios are coming off an impressive two-game sweep over Northeastern in which they posted matching 5-2 final scores.
Senior forward Carter King accounted for three goals and five points during the two games.
Wisconsin is looking to get back on track after being swept at home by Ohio State.
The Badgers are still looking for their primary source of offense, having scored two or fewer goals in three of their first five matchups.
Sophomore forward Quinn Finley leads all Wisconsin skaters with five points on three goals and two assists in four games.
No. 18 Minnesota State vs. No. 16 Omaha
An all-Mavericks battle awaits.
Minnesota State is back on the map after a transitional year in 2023-24. Luke Strand's program is 18-16-5 all-time against Omaha, having dropped three of the last four matchups. However, the two teams have not met since October 2015.
Minnesota State is coming off a two-game split against North Dakota last weekend. Graduate forward Josh Groll is coming off a big week, recording three goals on six shots against UND.
After being swept at home by Augustana last weekend, Omaha is looking to rebound. Senior forward Zach Urdahl provided the lone goal between the two games.
No. 11 Quinnipac vs. New Hampshire
These two teams have met twice, each claiming a victory last season.
Quinnipiac is off to a slow start, owning a 1-2-0 record through the first three games.
The Bobcats were swept on the road against Maine last weekend in a pair of one-goal games.
Freshman forward Tyler Borgula is tied for the team-lead in points (3), with two goals and one assist in his first three contests.
Meanwhile, New Hampshire dropped their only game last weekend, a shootout against Merrimack.
The Wildcats are led by sophomore forward Ryan Conmy, who has two points in his first two games.
No. 9 Colorado College vs. Alaska Anchorage
Colorado College is a top-10 team again!
The Tigers own a 12-8-2 record all-time against Alaska Anchorage, having captured wins in five of the last six matchups.
Colorado College has been an offensive dynamo in the early stages of this season, averaging six goals per game in three contests.
The Tigers are back in action after sweeping Northern Michigan two weekends ago. Junior forward Noah Laba accounted for one goal and six points in the two games.
