Merrimack College will have many new faces from across North America. In the second part of their Freshman Focus, we look at the remaining players in this year's recruiting class.
Scott Boreck and the Merrimack Warriors can’t be too upset with how last season went. A Hockey East championship and a Frozen Four appearance are no joke. Boreck and his staff can’t get too complacent, and with the recruits coming in this season, they haven’t been.
All entry years are from CollegeHockeyNews and are subject to change. Players are listed alphabetically by last name.
Luke Goukler –Left Winger, Chicago Steel (USHL)
Goukler played two seasons in Chicago, with a much better team in the second season. His plus-minus went from a minus-21 to a plus-three, which is a huge difference.
In his final 56 games, he posted 12 goals and 31 points for the Steel. He also played just a couple of games for the National Team Development Program in the 2023-24 season.
David Green –Defenseman, Brampton Steelheads (OHL)
Green played one season in the OHL, with his younger brother, a Brampton first-round pick, in Brampton.
In 48 games this season, Green had ten points. Green’s time in the OJHL with the St Michael’s Buzzers, he was a point-per-game player for them in the 2023-24 season.
Erik Kald –Defenseman, Sherwood Park Crusaders (BCHL)
Kald played seven games in the USHL this season for Sioux Falls; he then made the switch over to the BCHL, where he saw some high point totals.
In 42 games, he had 16 goals and 44 points. To add to that, he had 64 penalty minutes. But just six in his 13 games.
Brady Logue –Center, Salmon Arm Silverbacks (BCHL)
Logue had only played minor hockey until last season with the Silverbacks. He was a point producer for the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers, and that translated to the BCHL.
In 48 games, he had nine goals and 20 points from the blueline. His size is unlisted on multiple sites, so there won’t be any true measurements until he’s on campus.
Alex Mercier –Right Winger, Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL)
Mercier played his entire QMJHL career for Moncton, and he got to be around a winning environment.
In his last two seasons, he was a point-per-game player, and in the 2024-25 season, He was above a point-per-game in the Memorial Cup. He also totalled 57 goals across the last two seasons.
Ethan Merner –Right Winger, West Kelowna Warriors (BCHL)
Merner played 18 games in the WHL for the Calgary Hitmen in the 2024-25 season. He played two games for them this season before heading to West Kelowna, where he only saw six games this season.
In those games, he put up four goals and ten points for the Warriors.
C.J. Watroba –Left Winger, Charlottetown Islanders (QMJHL)
Watroba was playing prep hockey before this season, where he was a high-point producer for Kimball Union Academy.
In his one season in the QMJHL, he played in 52 games and had nine goals and sixteen points on the year for the Islanders. He also played in four playoff games, where he didn’t get any points.
