U.S. NTDP U17 defenseman Abe Barnett has committed to Michigan, it was announced earlier this week. 

Hailing from Wilmette, Ill., Barnett just finished his first season with the NTDP, scoring two goals and adding six assists for eight points in 57 regular season games. 

Prior to making the jump to the NTDP, Barnett played his minor hockey with the Chicago Mission, including an impressive 15U season last year where he scored seven goals and added 33 assists for 40 points in 64 games. 

Not scheduled to join the Wolverines until next fall, Barnett will have the chance to continue to develop his game while suiting up for the U18 team. As someone who can make a difference at both ends of the ice, Barnett has the makings of an impact defender who will make others in the NCAA pay.
