Rochester Jr. Americans forward Adam Gionta has committed to Niagara, it was announced late last week.
Adam, the son of former NHLer Brian Gionta, is in his second season with the Jr. Americans where he has scored 28 goals and added 37 assists for 65 points in 57 regular season games.
A product of Clarence Center, N.Y., Gionta has appeared in 114 career NAHL regular season games, putting up 47 goals and 109 points. Before making the jump to juniors, Gionta played his minor hockey with the Buffalo Jr. Sabres.
With Gionta committing to the Purple Eagles, they will be getting a hard working player who has a knack for creating scoring chances. Scheduled to join the team in the fall, Gionta could grab a role right out of the gates and be an important contributor for the team.
