American International College forward Timofei Khokhlachev has signed a one-year deal in Russia with Lada Togliatti, it was announced Thursday.
A product of Moskva, Russia, Khokhlachev just finished his junior season with the Yellow Jackets, scoring eight goals and adding 10 assists for 18 points in 32 games. Across 79 career games with AIC, Khokhlachev collected 18 goals and 17 assists for 35 points.
Prior to making the jump to the NCAA, Khokhlachev spent time playing junior hockey with the USHL's Des Moines Buccaneers and the NAHL's Shreveport Mudbugs.
With Khokhlachev heading back to Russia, he will get the chance to test his talents up against the KHL's best. Having spent 10-plus years playing in North America, he could deal with an adjustment period thanks to the differences in ice size but Khokhlachev has the size needed to hang at the pro level.
