The Anaheim Ducks have signed former Western Michigan forward Tim Washe to a one-year entry-level deal, it was announced Monday.
Washe, fresh off winning a national championship with the Broncos, will have his contract begin immediately, meaning he will become a restricted free agent this summer.
Having served as the captain at Western Michigan this past season, Washe scored 16 goals and added 22 assists for 38 points in 42 games. A product of Clarkston, Mich., Washe spent five years with the Broncos, putting up 28 goals and 74 points in 171 career games.
Prior to making his NCAA debut, Washe played one season of junior hockey in the BCHL with the Nanaimo Clippers.
Scheduled to make his NHL debut Tuesday, Washe proved his value this season and was a key cog to the Broncos being the last team left standing. A skilled player who makes a difference with and without the puck, Washe could be a solid bottom-six addition to the Ducks for the foreseeable future.
