Romer has three seasons of eligibility remaining with the Wildcats

Arizona State forward Matthew Romer has transferred to Northern Michigan, he announced Friday.

The native of Chicago, Ill., just finished his freshman season with the Sun Devils, where he registered one assist in seven games.

Before joining Arizona State, Romer had multiple stops on his junior hockey career, starting out in the NAHL with the Janesville Jets. In parts of two seasons with the Jets, he had 25 points in 42 games.

Romer also spent time with the U.S. NTDP U18 team and the Omaha Lancers of the USHL where he served as captain in his final season. In two games with the NTDP, he registered an assist while scoring eight goals and 31 points over 85 games with the Lancers.

While Romer didn't see many games with the Sun Devils, he joins a promising Wildcats team filled with new recruits. If the Wildcats experience success next season, Romer will most likely play a big hand in that.
