Ryan, who is the son of Martin St. Louis, just finished his sophomore season in the NCAA

Brown University's Ryan St. Louis has been invited to Pittsburgh Penguins' development camp, Mark Divver reported Thursday.

Ryan, who is the son of Montreal Canadiens' head coach Martin St. Louis, just finished his first season with the Bears where he had 13 goals and 11 assists for 24 points in 30 games.

St. Louis' NCAA journey is a little bit different compared to others. He originally played his freshman season at Northeastern in 2021-22 (collecting two points in 38 games) before returning to juniors to play with the Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL) for a year.

While it certainly helped him from a development standpoint, it is rare to see players join the NCAA and head back to juniors.

Prior to suiting up for the Huskies, St. Louis spent two seasons with the U.S. NTDP where he had 53 points in 96 games.

Having led the Bears in points this past season, St. Louis could be a welcome addition to the Penguins prospect system if he gets an entry-level deal.

Although the Penguins have epitomized winning over the last decade, it has left them with a depleted prospect pool and the addition of talented young players like St. Louis as a free agent could help them find underrated talent.
