Philadelphia Rebels defenseman Bryce Strand has committed to Minnesota State - Mankato, it was announced Tuesday.
Strand, whose father Luke is the head coach of the Mavericks, just wrapped up his final season of junior hockey with the Rebels, scoring one goal and adding 19 assists for 20 points in 54 regular season games.
A native of Green Bay, Wis., Strand spent parts of three seasons in the NAHL, collecting five goals and 28 assists for 33 points in 150 career games.
With Strand set to join the Mavericks in the fall, it will be interesting to see how his game translates to the NCAA. He's continually upped his offensive game at the junior level and could be a good contributor at both ends of the ice for the team.
