Terriers secure a potent offensive force. Will Carrier's 65-point QMJHL season reignite Boston University's championship aspirations?
Boston University has reeled in an important QMJHL prospect in Shawn Carrier.
Carrier is coming off a 65-point season in just 61 games with the Halifax Mooseheads, who finished seventh out of ten teams in the Eastern Conference. He had 44 points in 59 games the season prior, his second of three years in the QMJHL
A 19-year-old from Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Carrier is a prospect eligible for the 2026 NHL Draft.
The Elite Prospects Draft Guide describes Carrier as a “straight line, chip and chase” type of player. On top of that, it’s also mentioned, “He engages opponents with skill, driving through their space and using his arm and leg to shield possession, as he finds an escape.”
Boston is a prime destination for pro development, with now 105 Terriers who have skated in the National Hockey League.
Nonetheless, they’re seeking help after a 17-17-2 season, a record at or below .500 for the first time since the 2019-20 season.
It is another commitment from one of the CHL leagues with a bright future, with the new rule allowing for so much more talent to funnel in. Carrier hopes to stay with the trend in a tough Hockey East conference.
