Levshunov suited up for Michigan State this past season
The Chicago Blackhawks have selected Michigan State defenseman Artyom Levshunov with the second overall selection.
Levhsunov, a product of Zhlobin, Belarus, just finished his freshman season with the Spartans where he had nine goals and 26 assists for 35 points in 38 games.
Having lead all Michigan State defenders in points this season, Levshunov was named B1G Rookie of the Year, B1G Defensive Player of the Year, was a Hobey Baker Nominee and was named to the B1G All-Rookie Team and First All-Star Team.
Considered one of the most NHL ready prospects, Levshunov makes a strong Blackhawks prospect pool that much better. With the strong possibility that he's in the NHL next season, Levshunov has the abilities to become a minute-munching number one defenseman for the Blackhawks in the future.
