Levshunov spent his draft year with Michigan State

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed defenseman Artyom Levshunov to a three-year entry level contract, the team announced Saturday.

The contract will see Levshunov make $975,000 per year at the NHL level.

A native of Zhlobin, Belarus, Levshunov spent the 2023-24 season with the Michigan State Spartans. The Blackhawks' second overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, he scored nine goals and added 26 assists for 35 points in 38 games.

"Signing Artyom gives us the opportunity to continue his development in house and take the next step into professional hockey," Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson said in the team's release. "He’s a strong two-way defenseman that has all the tools to be a high-end player in the NHL and we’re excited to continue his growth at the pro level."

Although Levshunov might spend the majority of the 2024-25 season in Rockford, there is no need to rush his development. The Blackhawks might experience growing pains for another few seasons but their future is bright.
