    It was a good weekend in College hockey with some surprises and others as expected. We will touch on 18 different matchups and two other team's weekends.

    Sweeps

    No. 14 ranked Minnesota Duluth swept Bemidji State on the road after a 4-0 win on Friday and a 5-4 win in overtime on Saturday. 

    Wisconsin swept No. 17 ranked Michigan Tech on the road after a 4-2 win on Friday and a 5-2 win on Saturday.

    No. 8 ranked Michigan State swept Canisius at home with a 6-3 win on Thursday and a 4-3 win on Friday. 

    No. 9 ranked Western Michigan swept Bowling Green in a home-and-home matchup with a 5-2 win on Friday and a 5-2 win on Saturday.

    Umass stormed into Minnesota and swept the No. 19 ranked Minnesota State Mavericks with a 6-3 win on Friday and a 1-0 win on Saturday. 

    No. 18 ranked Arizona State swept Northern Michigan at home, Colorado College swept LIU at home, and Umass Lowell swept Colgate on the road. 

    Splits

    No. 1 ranked Minnesota beat No. 5 ranked North Dakota on Friday with a 4-0 win but lost 2-1 on Saturday.

    No. 4 ranked Quinnipiac beat New Hampshire on the road on Friday 5-2 but dropped the second game 5-4 in overtime with a game-winner from Sophomore forward, Cy LeClerc.

    Notre Dame stunned the hockey world with a 4-1 win on home ice against the No. 6 ranked Boston University but got steamed rolled 8-2 on Saturday after Macklin Celebrini's two-goal night.

    No. 20 ranked St. Cloud State beat Alaska at home Friday 4-1 but lost 5-2 on Saturday after Brady Risk's two-goal and three-point night. 

    AIC split against No. 12 ranked Penn State on the road, UConn split at Union, Sacred Heart at RIT, and Air Force at Alaska Anchorage.

    Ties

    No. 7 ranked Michigan crushed No. 13 ranked Ohio State at Yost Arena 7-1 but tied on Saturday 2-2. Dylan Duke had a goal and three assists on the weekend and Gavin Brindley had two goals and one assist.

    St. Thomas hosted Lindenwood and tied the first game 4-4 but beat the Tigers 3-1 on Saturday. Cooper Gay had two goals and an assist over the weekend and Luc Laylin notched a goal in each game. 

    Holy Cross beat Robert Morris 3-1 on the road on Friday but couldn't complete the sweep after tying 3-3 on Saturday.

    Other notes

    No. 3 ranked Boston College beat Rensselaer 6-1 at home on Friday and hosted No. 2 ranked Denver University on Saturday in a back-and-forth game but fell 4-3 to the Pioneers. 

    Denver lost to No. 10 ranked Providence on Friday on the road 4-3 but walked into BC and beat the Eagles by one goal. 

    Players of the week

    Daniel Russel from Michigan State had four goals over the series with three of them coming in MSU's 6-3 win on Thursday.

    Sam Colangelo picked up four goals and one assist for Western Michigan helping them cap off a sweep over Bowling Green.

    Minnesota's Justen Close notched a shutout on Friday's game against UND and finished the weekend 1-1-0 with a .966 save percentage and a 1.01 goals-against average.

    UMass' Michael Hrabal picked up a 1-0 shutout on Saturday and finished the weekend 2-0-0 with a .952 save percentage and a 1.51 goals-against average. Hrabal was ranked as one of the top freshmen goaltenders coming into the season.
