A new week, a new tournament to play: what's the event, where is it, and who's in it?
Connecticut’s annual CT Ice men’s college hockey tournament will return to PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford on Jan. 29–30, 2027, bringing the state’s four Division I programs together to compete in an in-state rivalry tournament.
The seventh annual tournament will feature the University of Connecticut, Quinnipiac University, Yale University and Sacred Heart University. This is the tournament’s return to Hartford for the first time since 2024.
The tournament will feature four games over a two-day stretch.
The action begins Friday, Jan. 29, when Yale faces Quinnipiac at 4 p.m., followed by Sacred Heart against UConn at 7:30 p.m. The consolation game is scheduled for Saturday at 3:30 p.m., with the championship game set for 7 p.m.
CT Ice began in 2020, with Sacred Heart winning the inaugural tournament. Quinnipiac then captured three consecutive titles before UConn won the championship in 2025 and defended its title in 2026.
Tournament organizers and coaches see the return to Hartford as an opportunity to showcase Connecticut’s college hockey talent and grow interest in the sport. Hosting all four programs at one venue also gives fans an opportunity to experience the state’s rivalries during one weekend.
Whether you’re in the state or not, this will be a weekend to open up your calendar.
