Defensemen Hayden and Hudson Martin are celebrating a shared milestone together. The brothers announced their NCAA Commitments to Bowling Green State University last night.
Hayden is a 2009 born blueliner suiting up for the Ontario Junior Hockey League's (OJHL) Collingwood Blues. He currently has 19 points (3 goals + 16 assists) in 31 games this season. The 2025 fourth round pick of Guelph suited up in two games for the OHL's Storm, earning one assist. The younger Martin looks to help lead Collingwood to their third OJHL Championship in four seasons, winning back to back titles in both 2023 and 2024. Blues General Manager and Head Coach Andrew Campoli had this to say of Hayden.
"Hayden has continued to elevate his game on a daily basis and has embraced increased responsibility within our group, developing into a reliable two-way defenceman who is very hard to play against," Campoli said. "His growth, consistency, and commitment to his development have been outstanding to watch."
A year and half older, Hudson plays defense in the OHL with the Sudbury Wolves. Through 60 outings, Hudson has 14 points (1 goal + 13 assists). Hudson has thrived at multiple levels of hockey. First, he helped the Greater Sudbury Wolves win the 2024 Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League Championship in his first junior season. Then, Hudson went through the OJHL's Collingwood Blues in 2024-25, a year prior to Hayden's arrival, where he notched 41 points in 50 games.
I am intrigued to see how the Martin brothers play against each other in the OHL next year, and together on Bowling Green State's blue line.
