The Wisconsin native recently won his second championship with the Pioneers

Denver forward Connor Caponi will return to the Pioneers for a fifth season, the team announced Thursday.

The Milwaukee, WI., native recently wrapped up his senior season with the Pioneers where he had five goals and nine assists for 14 points in 44 games en route to his second national championship in three years.

Over his four seasons with the Pioneers, Caponi has scored 13 goals and added 16 assists for 29 points in 143 games.

Before joining the Pioneers, Caponi played his junior hockey with the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL where he had 22 goals and 37 points in 74 games over parts of two seasons.

With Denver being a heavy favourite to compete for another national championship, Caponi's return is great news for David Carle and his staff.
