Forsmark wrapped up his fifth year at Merrimack in 2023-24

The ECHL's Wheeling Nailers have signed former Warriors forward Filip Forsmark to a one-year deal, the team announced Tuesday.

A product of Skovde, Sweden, Forsmark scored five goals and added 13 assists for 18 points in 35 games this season at Merrimack. Over the course of his five-year NCAA career, he collected 26 goals and 48 assists for 74 points in 123 games.

At the end of last season, Forsmark joined the Allen Americans (ECHL) for a two-game stint but went pointless.

Before making the jump to the NCAA, Forsmark played junior hockey in Sweden and two seasons in the USHL with the Tri-City Storm.

With Forsmark getting ready for his first pro season, he has the opportunity to be a solid signing for the Nailers. He's shown the capability to produce at every level he's played at and it would not be surprising to see his role expand as the season goes on.
