Sudbury Wolves defenseman Finn Kearns has committed to UMass, it was announced earlier this week.
A native of Aurora, Ont., Kearns split time this season between St. Andrew's College and the Wolves. In five games with Sudbury, Kearns went pointless but he scored seven goals and added 17 assists for 24 points in 55 games with St. Andrew's.
Drafted by the Wolves in the eighth round of the 2024 OHL Priority Selection, Kearns spent his draft-eligible season playing for the York Simcoe Express, collecting six goals and 12 assists for 18 points in 34 regular season games.
With Kearns heading to UMass in 2027, he will likely make the jump to the Wolves full time next season. As a smart, mobile defender, Kearns has the skills needed to make an impact at the OHL level before he heads off to join the Minutemen.
