Doherty spent the 2023-24 season with the Maine Mariners

The Florida Everblades have signed former Sacred Heart defenseman Connor Doherty to a one-year deal, the team announced Monday.

Doherty, who hails from Holden, Mass., spent the entire 2023-24 season with the Maine Mariners (ECHL). In 36 regular season games, he collected one goal and seven assists for eight points.

From 2014-2017, Doherty suited up for Sacred Heart, scoring seven goals and adding 14 assists for 21 points in 99 career games. Since turning pro in 2017, Doherty has played in 345 career ECHL regular season games, putting up 75 points in the process.

As Doherty joins the reigning ECHL champions, he will be a welcome veteran addition to the squad. Having served as the captain of the Mariners for the past three seasons, it would not be surpising to see Doherty take on a leadership role with the Everblades as well.
