Jones spent this past season playing for the AHL's Manitoba Moose
Former Ohio State and North Dakota forward Nick Jones has signed a one-year deal with Vlci Zilina in Slovakia, it was announced Saturday.
Jones, who hails from Edmonton, Alta., spent this past season playing for the Manitoba Moose (AHL) where he collected six goals and 10 assists for 16 points in 47 regular season games. He also appeared in one playoff game with the Moose but didn't register a point.
Prior to turning pro at the end of the 2018-19 season, Jones spent parts of two seasons at Ohio State (2014-16) and two at North Dakota (2017-2019). During his time between schools, Jones spent almost two years with the Penticton Vees (BCHL).
Over the course of 89 career NCAA games, Jones had 25 goals and 31 assists for 56 points.
As Jones takes his career overseas, he will have the opportunity to play big minutes with Vlci Zilina. With his new contract only lasting a year, it will be interesting to see if Jones opts to return to North America next summer.
