Former Mercyhurst forward Tommy Bannister has transferred to SUNY-Oswego (Div. III), it was announced earlier this week.

Hailing from Clayton, N.Y., Bannister entered his junior season with the Lakers last season but did not appear in any games for the team. Over 43 career NCAA games, he has scored four goals and added 10 assists for 14 points.

Before heading to Mercyhurst in 2022, Bannister played three seasons of junior hockey, two with the New Jersey Jr. Titans (NAHL) and one with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs (BCHL). His best season offensively came with the Jr. Titans in 2021-22, where he collected 20 goals and 40 assists for 60 points in 55 regular season games.

With Bannister heading to join Lakers, he should figure prominently into their lineup this season. Having proven he can produce at the Div. I level, Bannister could earn himself an ECHL deal if he  has a strong season.
