Former Michigan Wolverine and current Columbus Blue Jackets forward Gavin Brindley scored for the U.S. Sunday at the IIHF World Championship.
A 2023 second-round pick of the Blue Jackets, Brindley scored his first goal of the tournament for the U.S. in their matchup against Kazakhstan. His goal made it 5-0 for the Americans in an eventual 10-1 win.
At only 19, Brindley suited up for the Wolverines for his sophomore season this year where he had 53 points in 40 games.
After signing his ELC with the Blue Jackets, Brindley also made his NHL debut Apr. 16 against the Carolina Hurricanes where he was held pointless.
One of the Blue Jackets best young players, Brindley figures to play a big role for the team next season as they look to take the next step in the journey back to contention.
