Former St. Thomas defenseman Grant Docter has signed a one-year deal in Italy with Brixen/Bressanone, it was announced over the weekend.
A product of Golden Valley, Minn., Docter finished his third season with the Tommies and fourth in the NCAA this past year, scoring two goals and adding an assist for three points in 25 games. Over 78 career games with St. Thomas and Michigan Tech, Docter put up three goals and 13 assists for 16 points.
Before heading off to the NCAA, Docter played his junior hockey in the USHL (Madison Capitols, Des Moines Buccaneers & Muskegon Lumberjacks) and the NAHL (Minnesota Wilderness).
With Docter heading off to Italy to play in their second division of pro hockey, he will likely experience success as soon as he steps out onto the ice. Although his offensive numbers have not been as standout at the NCAA level, he has proven that he can produce before and seems likely to do it again in the near future.
