Riga has been with Holy Cross for the past three seasons
Holy Cross has extended head coach Bill Riga's contract until 2029, the team announced Thursday.
Riga, a product of Westborough, Mass., has served as the head coach of Holy Cross since 2021.
Prior to getting into coaching in 1996, Riga enjoyed a playing career that saw him suit up for four seasons at UMass-Lowell and one season with the El Paso Buzzards (WPHL).
After hanging up his skates in 1996, Riga jumped straight into coaching, joining the Boston Jr. Bruins (EJHL) as an assistant coach and director of recruitment.
Spending seven seasons in that role, Riga would make the jump to the NCAA in 2003 when he joined Union College as an assistant coach.
Over the next decade, Riga would serve as an assistant with Union (2003-2008) and Quinnipiac (2008-2014) before taking on the role of associate head coach with the Bobcats.
From 2014 until 2021, Riga held that position until he joined Holy Cross as their head coach.
As Riga extends his contract, he will look to continue taking Holy Cross in the right direction. Having finished second in the AHA last season with a 21-14-4 record, the Crusaders will look to continue to build upon that as they head into 2024-25.
