It's time to check in on the 2025 NHL draft class in the NCAA: who's performing, and who's standing above the pack?

A lot of players from the 2025 NHL draft are entering their sophomore seasons, and for some, their freshman year. So let’s check in on the class to see who’s been dominant so far.

Ethan Wyttenbach, by no means, is tearing it up again at Quinnipiac. The Calgary Flames' fifth-round pick led the NCAA in scoring last year and is ranked sixth to start this season with four goals and 11 points in six games.

It’s a draft of late bloomers, and even on the blueline, Anaheim Ducks fourth-round pick Drew Shock is over at Michigan and has already tied his point total from last season, and he’s only played seven games. He’s the second-highest-scoring defenseman in the country right now with 10 points.

Looking at the first round, players like Cole Reschny at North Dakota and Malcolm Spence at Michigan have been very solid players to start the season. This is the start of a comeback season for Spence, who didn’t meet expectations, but he’s come back this year playing at his pace and making plays at that pace. Reschny was named the captain of the Fighting Hawks and will be one of the top names once again to look out for at the World Juniors.

There is also a clear goalie battle from this class: there’s Michigan’s Jack Ivankovic, who was taken at the end of the second round by the Nashville Predators, and there’s San Jose Sharks first-round pick Joshua Ravensbergen, who’s at Michigan State.

Ivankovic is in his freshman season, while Ravensbergen is starting his college career this season. Ivankovic is 7-0-0 so far with a 2.00 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage, showing that last year was nothing close to a fluke.

Ravensbergen has also been extremely elite, posting a 1.26 GAA, a .957 SP, and a 3-1-0 record.
