Tri-City Americans defenseman Jackson Smith has committed to Penn State, it was announced on Sunday.
A native of Calgary, AB, Smith recorded 54 points (11 goals, 43 assists) in 68 regular season games for the Americans in 2024-25. He also won gold for Canada at the World U18 Championship earlier this year, where he recorded four goals and an assist in seven games.
Smith is eligible for the 2025 NHL Entry Draft and is ranked as the 13th best North American skater by NHL Central Scouting in its final 2025 prospects rankings.
A 2007-born skater, Smith will make the jump to the NCAA and join the Nittany Lions for the 2025-26 season. He'll likely play a major role on the Penn State blue line.
