Elliott is currently playing for the NOJHL's Soo Thunderbirds

Soo Thunderbirds forward James Elliott has committed to Lake Superior State, it was announced earlier this week.

Elliott, who is in his rookie season with the Thunderbirds, has appeared in 40 games with the team where he has collected 13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points.

Drafted by the Soo Greyhounds in the seventh round of the 2024 OHL Priority Selection, Elliott played his minor hockey with the Soo Greyhounds and the Barrie Colts. A product of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., he collected 20 goals and 41 points in 33 games during his draft year with the Colts in 2023-24.

Not scheduled to join the Lakers until 2027, Elliott could be a solid candidate to make the jump to the OHL as soon as next season. A skilled, energetic forward, Elliott makes those around him better and has stood out as a rookie in the NOJHL.
