Flint Firebirds forward Jimmy Lombardi has committed to Michigan, it was announced late last week.

Lombardi, who hails from Toronto, Ont., just finished his second season with the Firebirds where he scored 13 goals and added 32 assists for 45 points in 63 regular season games. With Flint having made the playoffs, Lombardi collected an assist in five games.

Drafted by the Firebirds in the second round of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection, Lombardi has appeared in 125 career regular season games, accumulating 20 goals and 45 assists for 65 points. Prior to making the jump to the junior level, Lombardi played his minor hockey with the Don Mills Flyers.

With Lombardi set to join the Wolverines next fall, he will have the ability to get another season with the Firebirds under his belt before heading off to the NCAA. A talented player who has taken steps forward each year he's been in the OHL, Lombardi will likely be close to a point-per-game in 2025-26 and play a big role if his team is to find success in the playoffs.
