Portland Winterhawks forward Josh Zakreski has committed to North Dakota, it was announced Tuesday. 

Zakreski, a product of Saskatoon, Sask., is in his third full season with the Winterhawks, having collected 32 goals and 26 assists for 58 points through 54 games. 

Drafted by the Winterhawks in the eight round of the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft, Zakreski has appeared in 200 career WHL regular season games, accumulating 67 goals and 68 assists for 135 points. 

Prior to making the jump into thw WHL, Zakreski played his minor hockey for the Saskatoon Generals, Saskatoon Maniacs and the Saskatoon Blazers.

With Zakreski committing to the Fighting Hawks, they will be getting a highly intelligent player who has the ability to make his presence known at both ends of the ice. Zakreski should be able to come in during his freshman season and solidify himself as a contributor.
