Baie-Comeau Drakkar forward Justin Poirier has committed to Maine, it was announced earlier this week.

Poirier, drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the fifth round of the 2024 NHL Draft, just finished his third season with the Drakkar, scoring 43 goals and adding 37 assists for 80 points in 58 regular season games. With Baie-Comeau having made the playoffs, Poirier played in two games but did not register a point.

Drafted by the Drakkar in the first round of the 2022 QMJHL Entry Draft, Poirier has appeared in 181 career QMJHL regular season games, putting up 122 goals and 88 assists for 210 points. Prior to heading to juniors, Poirier played his minor hockey with the Lac St-Louis Grenadiers and the Chateauguay Grenadiers.

Set to join the Black Bears this fall, Poirier is ready to make the next jump in his hockey career. Having been one of the best goal scorers in the 'Q' over the past two seasons, Poirier should be able to bring his goal scoring ability to the NCAA and be an offensive threat for Maine.
