Youngstown Phantoms defenseman Kazimier Sobieski has committed to RPI, it was announced late last week.
A product of Deerfield, Mass., Sobieski recently wrapped up his overage season with the Phantoms, scoring eight goals and adding 19 assists for 27 points in 38 regular season games. At the start of the season, before heading back to the USHL, Sobieski played five games for UMass, going pointless in the process.
Across parts of four USHL seasons with the Phantoms and Sioux Falls Stampede, Sobieski collected 17 goals and 43 assists for 60 points. Prior to that, he played his minor hockey with Shattuck St. Mary's.
Heading back to the NCAA to join the Engineers in the fall, Sobieski should be a solid addition to their blueline right out of the gates. Having shown to possess a scoring touch from the backend, Sobieski has all the makings to be an offensive producer for RPI over his NCAA career.
