Shattuck St. Mary's 18U Prep defenseman Kyle Heger has committed to Western Michigan, it was announced earlier this week.

Heger, a product of Eagan, Minn., was previously committed to UMass.

In his fourth season at Shattuck, Heger has scored seven goals and added 42 assists for 49 points in 49 games across the prep circuit.

Having suited up for Shattuck St. Mary's 16U team in 2023-24, Heger had 55 points across 55 games. Drafted by the Muskegon Lumberjacks in the third round of the 2023 USHL Futures Draft, Heger looks like a candidate to make the jump to Muskegon next season.

A skilled, smart defender, Heger makes plays that many wouldn't think to try and pulls them off successfully. When he joins the Broncos in 2026,  they will be getting a solid addition to their backend.
