Lake Superior State forward Brett Roloson and defenseman Ross Roloson have transferred to Niagara, it was announced this past week.
The sons of former NHL goalie Dwayne Roloson, Brett recently wrapped up his junior season with the Lakers while Ross just finished his freshman year.
Brett, who played in 15 games this past season, scored one goal and added five assists for six points. In parts of three seasons for the Lakers, he scored two goals and added 10 assists for 12 points in 74 career games.
Before joining the Lakers, Brett played his junior hockey with the Cowichan Valley Capitals, Merritt Centennials and Powell River Kings of the BCHL as well as the Minot Minotauros of the NAHL.
In parts of three BCHL seasons, he had 25 goals and 28 assists for 53 points in 108 games. In his lone season in the NAHL, Brett had 22 points in 37 games.
Just over two years younger than Brett, Ross recently finished his freshman season with the Lakers, collecting four goals and 14 points in 37 games from the backend.
Before joining the Lakers, Ross played his junior hockey across four different leagues, including the AJHL (Spruce Grove Saints), NAHL (Minot Minotauros), USHL (Green Bay Gamblers) and the BCHL (Surrey Eagles). His best statistical season came with the Eagles in 2022-23, where he had 26 points in 51 games.
With the additions of the Roloson brothers, the Purple Eagles add two solid NCAA players who should see their roles increase with the team. Although Niagara finished sixth in the AHA last season, with the additions of Brett and Ross along with a solid recruiting class, Niagara should rebound in 2024-25.
