    Former Minnesota State defenseman Luke Ashton has committed to Cornell, it was announced on Thursday.

    A native of North Vancouver, BC, Ashton posted 13 points (five goals, eight assists) in 38 games in his lone season with the Mavericks.

    Ashton was selected in the sixth round, 165th overall, by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

    A 2005-born skater, Ashton will join the Big Red for the 2025-26 season and provide size and experience to the Cornell blue line.
