Boston University forward Macklin Celebrini has won Hockey East Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year.

It's that time of the year when the NCAA's conferences announce their awards for the 2023-24 season. Today it's the Hockey East Conference and Boston University's Macklin Celebrini comes as advertised.
Celebrini, 17, accelerated his learning to be a freshman this year and boy did that ever pay off? Celebrini has now won the Hockey East Rookie of the Year award but he also has won the Hockey East Player of the Year award.
The native of Vancouver, British Columbia, is second in Hockey East and second in the NCAA in goals with 30 and is third in the NCAA in points. Only North Dakota's Jackson Blake and Boston College's Will Smith have more points than Celebrini.
The 6-foot forward is now one of just 26 freshmen in the last 50 years to score 30 goals in a single season and is the fourth men's player in Hockey East history to win both the Player of the Year award and the Rookie of the Year award in the same season.
He has joined former Terrier Jack Eichel (2014-15), Maine's Paul Kariya (1992-93), and Boston College's Brian Leetch (1986-87) to have won both awards in the same season.
Last season, Celebrini played in the USHL with the Chicago Steel and became the second player to ever be named USHL Player, Forward, and Rookie of the Year in the same season.
Celebrini's incredible resume just continues to grow after being named the Hockey East's Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year.
