Four promising junior hockey talents commit to make history as Maryville University's inaugural Division I men's hockey recruits.

As announced this past week, Maryville University will be joining NCAA Division I Men's Hockey for the 2026-27 Season, with a full Division I Schedule for 2027-28. In the following days, four junior hockey players have announced their commitment to be the first crop of D I Maryville Saints. I break them down in alphabetical order.

Anthony Hall: Forward Cowichan Valley Capitals (BCHL)

After capturing a championship with Rockland Nationals of the Central Canada Hockey League last year and averaging nearly 1.5 points per game, Hall made the jump to the BCHL for his age out season. Despite advancing leagues, Hall's production has risen to the occasion. Hall leads the Capitals with 37 assists and 56 points, and had a 13 game point streak that lasted over a month where he racked up 19 points (6 goals + 13 assists). He should make an immediate impact, especially in the Saints' transition year of 2026-27.

Nikita Meshcheryakov: Forward, Blackfalds Bulldogs (BCHL)

Another pass first talent out of the BCHL, Meshcheryakov is a bigger body that can play both center and wing. Meshcheryakov's development in his native Russia plus experience in the USHL, NAHL and BCHL greatly increases his versatility. As seen in the video above via Meshcheryakov's X Account, he earned his first five BCHL points during his Bulldog debut on Nov. 15, 2025. I am excited to see how he leverages his frame, speed, and hands at the collegiate level next season.

Adam Timm: Forward, Waterloo Black Hawks (USHL)

Timm is a hard working physical forward that can contribute offensively in a middle six role. The most attractive quality about Timm is his work ethic, which allows him to be a versatile player, plugged into multiple roles within a lineup. This work ethic has allowed Timm to carve out a role at nearly every level of junior hockey. His junior hockey progress has been remarkable, advancing from the NCDC as a 17 year old all the way to the USHL in 2025-26. Daniel Wiitanen, Voice of the NAHL's Wisconsin Windigo from 2022-2024 had this to say about Timm. "Adam Timm is the Swiss Army Knife forward every team dreams of having," said Wiitanen.  "Timm's passion, grit, and determination are the three elements that make him so desirable. He isn’t afraid of action and loves to get into the fray." Safe to say that the Saints are getting a glue guy for their new program right off the bat.

Will Subject: Defenseman, Nanaimo Clippers (BCHL)

Subject is the first defenseman in program history committed to Maryville, and he can lead from the blue line. The captain of the BCHL's Nanaimo Clippers, Subject plays a shutdown style on defense and can throw his body around at the drop of a hat. Subject told of his decision to commit, "I am super honored and grateful to be recruited to a brand new program where I can help build the culture of what it means to be a Saint," said Subject. "This is something that will be an amazing opportunity for me and the Maryville community, I look forward to great beginnings next fall!"

The Maryville University Saints are putting together a solid nucleus of players to craft an identity for their new Division I program. As we go further into Spring of 2026, I expect more players both with remaining junior eligibility and those aging out to take a look at Maryville.
