Moncton Wildcats goaltender Mathis Rousseau has committed to Maine, it was announced earlier this week.
Rousseau, a product of Montreal, Que., joined the Wildcats from the Halifax Mooseheads midway through the season, appearing in 15 regular season games with Moncton. Over that time, he went 11-4-0 while posting a 2.33 GAA and a .903 SP. With the Wildcats having made it all the way to the Memorial Cup, Rousseau played a major role in getting the team there, posting a stat line of 8-2 along with a 2.53 GAA and a .915 SP.
Drafted by the Mooseheads in the fourth round of the 2020 QMJHL Entry Draft, Rousseau played a total of 170 career QMJHL regular season games over parts of four seasons, going 104-47-11 while accumulating a 2.70 GAA and a .911 SP.
With Rousseau being one of the better 'Q' goalies throughout his tenure in the league, his jump to the NCAA is a well deserved opportunity. Although the Black Bears have Albin Boija in the crease, Rousseau could very well challenge for starts out of the gate and be their go to guy between the pipes.
