Culver Military Academy goaltender Maverick Avent has committed to Air Force Academy, it was announced earlier this week.
A product of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Avent just finished his second full season of prep hockey for Culver, posting a record of 22-12-0 along with a 2.28 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage in 35 regular season appearances. Over a total of 55 career regular season games, Avent has put together a .912 SP.
Before making his way to Culver, Avent played for the Empire Hockey Club and the Anaheim Ice Dogs.
With Avent not scheduled to join the Falcons until next fall, he will likely make the jump to junior hockey before heading off to the NCAA. While he was not drafted to the USHL or NAHL, Avent could be a candidate to play in the NAHL before his collegiate hockey debut.
